Royal British Legion Club & Branch Friern Barnet Friern Barnet Royal British Legion 1907 Friern Barnet Royal British Legion Present Day About Us Our RBL branch was formed in 1927, by a group of gentlemen to provide financial, social and emotional support to members and ex-members of the armed forces and their families, and we are still going strong to this day. The British Legion - now The Royal British Legion - was formed in 1921, from four seperate ex-service organisations, and is not just about those who fought in the Two World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in many other conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today. Today, anyone can join the RBL, and at Friern Barnet we welcome everyone to our club. We welcome men and women of all ages to become members. Anyone cam join the legion, whether or not you have a connection with the armed forces, and once you become a member you can visit any legion in the U.K. or abroad. Members of the legion meet through a network of branches and clubs for social events, meetings and can become involved in many activities of the legion, including caseworking, fundraising, and legion in the community events both nationally and locally. During October at Friern Barnet, we have our Poppy Shop open daily, for the sale of wreaths and poppy donations and so that the poppy boxes and tins can be collected.
